The organizational revolution has entered our closets with great force thanks to the Konmari method. We have learned to fold practically everything, but surely you have ever wondered: How to fold reusable bags? For many, ordering the bags, whether they are shopping or some more flirtatious, is an authentic odyssey. They take up space and, almost without realizing it, there are more and more. Therefore, since we want you to be able to keep the bags well organized, we have set out to teach you how to do it.
ORGANIZE BY TYPE OF BAGS
Before you start learning how to fold your storage bags, it is important to divide them. Like Marie Kondo, organize your bags by category. The bags are plastic -better biodegradables, on the one hand; cloth bags for another; and finally the paper bags and raffia.
Once you have them divided into categories, it is time to start folding them. You will not need any extra element to be able to fold them, just your hands. Of course, we recommend that you fold the bags on a smooth surface, it can be on the dining table or a desk.
HOW TO FOLD PLASTIC BAGS
Regardless of the size of the plastic bag you have, if you follow these steps you can store it at home much better:
- First, we flatten the bag well to remove all the air it can contain.
- Then we fold the bag in half twice.
- Before finishing we fold, staying approximately one-third of the edge.
- To finish, we fold the edge that has been left in and end up folding in half.
Now that we have the folded plastic bags we must store them in an upright position. Thus, they will not lose the form that we have elaborated on. We recommend storing these bags in a rigid dispenser like this one from Ikea. It is small, does not take up space, and is also very affordable (price: 2 euros).
HOW TO FOLD PLASTIC BAGS WITHOUT HANDLES?
They fold in the same way as if they had handles. Although it is true that, once we have folded the bags in half, we can continue folding as many times as we want.
- First, we fold the top edge forward.
- We turn the bag over and fold the sides towards the center.
- Then we fold the bottom of the bag up in half.
- To finish, we fold the bag again in half and save.
HOW TO FOLD CLOTH BAGS, STEP BY STEP
Folding cloth bags is very easy. Like the plastic bags with handles, we will follow the Konmari method to organize them. Take note!
- We spread the bag well on a smooth surface.
- We flatten the bag well leaving the handles also fully stretched.
- We fold the bag in half.
- Then we proceed to fold the handles inwards.
- Once the handles are in place, fold the bag in half twice.
To store the cloth bags we can organize them into small boxes. This way we can keep the shape of the bag folded perfectly. If we prefer other types of boxes, Marie Kondo has also launched her collection. Boxes of different sizes to keep order with more style. This one below is also from Ikea and costs 3 euros.
HOW TO FOLD PAPER BAGS
A simple way to keep paper bags from losing their shape is to simply flatten them. This will ensure that they remain in good condition and we can use them again. We advise you to do it this way if they are bags that you want to use, for example, as a gift. Choose a fabric box if you have an open closet, so you can store your most special bags there without damaging them. This box of fabric is from Amazon and costs 11.99 euros.
If you are going to use the paper bag to go to the supermarket you can fold them into thirds making the first fold on the handles, so that they remain inside the bag and do not disturb. If they did not have handles, we would do the same procedure.
The trick of order: for reusable raffia bags that we buy in supermarkets, the procedure is the same. To reduce space, we advise you to store them in one of the same reusable bags. This also helps us to have them located at all times.
